Ballet
Ballet classes are designed to teach basic ballet technique through barre work and centre practice. Students will be exposed to traditional classical music with a modern twist. Ballet forms the foundation of many other dance styles and helps dancers develop strength, flexibility, balance, coordination, and confidence.
At Universal we have ballet classes starting in Year 2 - Year 12+, catering for beginner, intermediate and advanced levels for all ages.
Ballet Intensive
Ballet Intensive is an additional ballet that students can participate in weekly on top of their usual ballet class. This class aims to extend students further on their ballet terminology, technique, strength and flexibility.
At Universal, we have ballet intensive classes for Year 2 - Year 6 and Year 7+
Pointe
Pointe work is an advanced level of ballet technique in which dancers perform on the tips of their toes using specially designed pointe shoes. In pointe class, dancers focus on building ankle strength, core stability, proper placement, and controlled transitions in and out of pointe. Training begins at the barre and gradually progresses to center work as strength and confidence increase.
Pointe work enhances balance, control, and artistry while creating the graceful, weightless quality that defines classical ballet.
At Universal, these classes are offered to students in Year 7+ who have had a minimum of 3 years ballet experience and training. There are different levels to support beginner, intermediate and advanced pointe students.
To participate in pointe classes students must also be enrolled in both the ballet and ballet intensive classes.
Acrobats
Acrobats classes blends the strength and athleticism of acro with the grace and technique of dance. Designed for energetic movers who love to tumble, this class focuses on building flexibility, balance, coordination, and core strength in a safe and structured environment.

Proper technique and safe skill progression are emphasised at every level to ensure dancers build confidence. Perfect for dancers who enjoy both dance and tumbling, this class offers an exciting way to challenge the body while developing discipline and teamwork.
At Universal, we offer 5 different levels of acrobats classes to suit the needs, abilities, ages and skill levels of all dancers who participate in acrobats. These levels start at beginner Level 1, through to Level 2, Level 3, Level 4 and finally Advanced 1 Acrobats for our most advanced acrobatic students.
