Miss Jaclyn
OWNER AND DIRECTOR

Miss Jaclyn has been dancing since she was 2 years old with a passion for all genres particularly ballet, tap and jazz. She has been accepted into and attended international summer schools with the Royal Ballet in London & Juilliard in New York, extending her ballet training and providing her with incredible experiences. After living in Connecticut for 6 months Miss Jaclyn returned to Perth and opened Universal Dance and Performance in 2018 with the vision of providing a safe and welcoming place for students to find themselves through dance.
Miss Jaclyn completed her Certificate in Dance Teaching Studies (Ballet) through the Royal Academy of Dance and has vast experience as an adjudicator, teacher and performer.
Outside the dance studio Miss Jaclyn can be found reading, running and spending time with family.
Miss Lara

Miss Lara has been dancing all her life, growing up in dance studios and commencing classes from the age of 2. She has trained in all styles of dance with a deep passion for jazz and contemporary. Miss Lara completed her Advanced Diploma in Performing Arts majoring in Dance and since then has been teaching full-time at Universal taking on the roles of Little Stars Team Leader & Performance Team coordinator along with teaching across various age groups & genres.
Outside the dance studio Miss Lara can be found line dancing, getting dressed up and watching musicals.
Miss Leslie
UNIFORM SHOP & COSTUME CO-ORDINATOR
Miss Leslie has been heavily involved in the dance world for over 25 years with experience as a dance shop manager, costume co-ordinator, costume designer, dressmaker & dance mum to Miss Lara and Miss Jaclyn. Miss Leslie is also an experienced book keeper and business owner herself with a special interest in small business and expansion.
Outside the studio Miss Leslie can be found gardening, cooking and spending time with her family.
Miss Lili

Miss Lili began dancing at the age of six and has trained across all styles, with a special interest in commercial jazz, hip hop and contemporary. After finishing high school, Miss Lili moved to Sydney to train full-time at Brent Street, where she completed her Diploma of Dance (Elite Performance). Following her training, Miss Lili returned to WA and began teaching at Universal in 2020, sharing her love of dance with students of all ages.
Alongside teaching, she is currently studying a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education to further develop her skills as an educator and support children’s growth both in and out of the studio. Her favourite part of being a dance teacher is by far concert season — there is nothing more rewarding than seeing students’ growth over the year and watching them shine on stage.
Miss Elvira

Miss Lara began her dancing journey at 7 years old, with tap and jazz as her first ever dance classes. She joined the UDP family in 2019 when we first moved to our current studio on Canning Hwy. Miss Lara still dances herself at UDP, doing every style of dance and also completing numerous solos in local competitions throughout the year.
Outside of the studio, Miss Lara has recently completed her degree in Early Childhood Education and is a Kindergarten teacher at Kensington Primary School.
Mr Jamie

Mr Jamie has been teaching Musical Theatre and Dance for fifteen years joining the Universal team in 2020 after having enjoyed his own long and varied stage career. He has performed on the West End and Internationally in a number of musicals. Mr Jamie has a degree in Musical Theatre which he earned at Arts Educational Schools in the U.K.
Alongside teaching, Mr Jamie can be found singing at various gigs, and performing as a role play actor for The Experience Lab.
Miss Maddy

Miss Maddy has been dancing for 17 years, joining the Universal family as a student in 2019. Miss Maddy performs every style of dance, with jazz being her favourite. Miss Maddy has been teaching with Universal since 2024 with a particular passion for teaching Year 1 students.
Outside the studio Miss Maddy is currently studying Forensic Chemistry, and loves to spend her spare time camping.
Miss Jane

Miss Jane has been dancing at Universal from the age of 10, being one of our very first students back in 2017. Over her dance journey she has participated in a variety of styles and also featured in the Universal Mid-Year Musical for two years. Her favourite genres are Jazz, Contemporary, Hip Hop and Acrobats. Miss Jane started assistant teaching in 2022 and has loved every minute of it. She is now a senior Little Stars teacher which she finds super rewarding.
Outside of the studio Miss Jane is currently in her second year of an Early Childhood Education Degree at Notre Dame.
Miss Zenobia

Miss Zenobia has been dancing with Universal since 2019 taking part in jazz, hip hop, contemporary along with mid-year musical productions. Miss Zenobia has been teaching with Universal since 2021 with a focus on Little Stars students, but also assisting with our upper school classes in recent years.
Outside the studio Miss Zenobia is currently studying a Bachelor of Screen Media at ECU and still loves to use her spare time to dance!
Miss Alex

Miss Alex began her dancing journey at Universal in 2020, with jazz being her absolute favourite style. She has been assistant teaching since 2023 helping with Little Stars, Let’s & Jazz classes. She has loved building bonds with the students she dances with and teaches at the studio while helping the dancers grow in confidence and skill.
Outside the studio Miss Alex is currently studying Physiotherapy, developing a keen interest thanks to her time spent dancing and teaching.
Miss Aliyah
ASSISTANT TEACHER

Miss Aliyah has been dancing for as long as she can remember and has trained at Universal since 2018, with a particular love for jazz, contemporary, and hip hop. Miss Aliyah has worked as a teaching assistant at Universal since 2025, where she has thoroughly enjoyed sharing her passion for dance with students and supporting them in their growth and confidence.
Outside of the studio Miss Aliyah is currently in her third year of studying International Relations and French. She enjoys attending concerts, playing social netball, and spending quality time with friends.
Miss Rubie
ASSISTANT TEACHER

Miss Rubie has been dancing since she was 3 years old and began her dance journey at Universal in 2022. In 2024 Miss Rubie joined the Student teacher program and has loved assisting with Little Stars & Let’s classes over the past few years. Her favourite style of dance is ballet.
Outside of dance Miss Rubie enjoys studying, reading, and cooking. She can also speak multiple languages and is currently in her final year of high school.
Miss Flic

Miss Flick has been dancing since she was 7 years old when she started tap and jazz classes. She joined the Universal family as a student in 2017 and shortly after, started contemporary, before finding her love for ballet and pointe. In 2023 Miss Flick started as a student teacher at Universal, sparking her passion for teaching.
Outside the studio Miss Flick can be found at university studying Early Childhood Education, reading a good book or on her family farm down south.
Miss Sofia

Miss Sofia began dancing with Universal in 2017, as one of our very first enrolled students. Since then Sofia has participated in a variety of genres including ballet, pointe and tap. In 2025 Miss Sofia joined the Student Program and now assists with Little Stars classes throughout the week.
Outside of the studio Miss Sofia can be found participating in roller skating competitions!
